Sometimes moderating comment can be a source of frustration and it often do more harm than help. I see many blogging sites default to comment moderation but it can be a unpleasant sign to see that a comment not appearing for days when the author forget or find it crumblesome to approve a comment. A comment by someone show that he is appreciating your site, and that will be great start for viewership because it is much easier to retain existing viewer. Moreover, to moderate a ‘harmless’ site like mine doesn’t worth the effort and that free-flow of comment is definitely welcoming for new site like mine. Beside I find anti-spamming mechanism work terribly so far and all of the comments that are valid are been incorrectly identified as spam.
In the end, I decide moderation is in fact not in my best interest and thus disable it. And for those who think likewise, the subsequent steps are needed to disable comment moderation.
How to disable comment moderation in WordPress
Login to wordpress account. Go to Option main tab, then select Discussion sub-tab.
Uncheck (no tick) the following two options:
- An administrator must always approve the comment
- Comment author must have a previously approved comment
