There are many unforgetable hits from Paul Anka, and I select my own few ‘best’. I put them into chronicle of time.
Present day (Phase 3) ![]()
One of those day will come when you open your eyes and reflect upon the journey of your life, thinking about the old time, good and bad times which certainly bring back those memories that will put a smile on your face. Thinking of how time could possibly fly so fast. Reminise those time in school and university, and recall how your cute children grown up, seeing your friends having families of their own.
Without fail, Paul Anka with his classy voice manage to stir those feeling of nostalgicness in this timeless masterpiece, Times of Your Life.
In this wonderful song, Paul Anka teaches us how to remember the time of our life
as we grow from innocent child to graceful old age just like he did from the above photos which increasingly increase in size as age progress
.
I remember this is also the song for a insurance/bank TV commercial some years back in Singapore, though I couldn’t quite remember for which company. It timeline a couple from their youthful day meeting each other, courtship, the day of marry, having children, children grown up, couple growing old embracing each other as they recall the past. This song really reflect those event excellently. I couldn’t get the version for Paul Anka in Youtube, Look like someone post a version of Paul Anka’s times of his life !
Times of Your Life by Paul Anka
Good morning yesterday,
You wake up, and time has slipped away
And suddenly it’s hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?
The laughter and the tears,
The shadows, of misty yesteryears,
The good times and the bad you’ve seen,
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember the times of your life?
(Do you remember?)
Reach out for the joy and the sorrow,
Put them away in your mind
The mem’ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow
Here comes the setting sun (comes the setting sun)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may,
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember the times of your life?
Gather moments while you may,
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember the times of your life?
Of your life, of your life
Do you remember baby,
Do you remember the times of your life?
Do you remember baby,
Do you remember the times of your life?
Relationship/CourtShip (Phase 1)
Diana, the hit song he wrote at age 15 about a crush he had on an older Ottawa teenager, Diana Ayoub, made him an overnight sensation. Within six years, the sweet, yearning song was covered by 300 artists in 15 countries and went on to sell nearly 10 million copies. [More] By the way, isn’t he handsome in these old MTV !
Diana by Paul Anka
I’m so young and you’re so old
This, my darling, I’ve been told
I don’t care just what they say
‘Cause forever I will pray
You and I will be as free
As the birds up in the trees
Oh, please stay by me, Diana
Thrills I get when you hold me close
Oh, my darling, you’re the most
I love you but do you love me
Oh, Diana, can’t you see
I love you with all my heart
And I hope we will never part
Oh, please stay with me, Diana
Oh, my darlin’, oh, my lover
Tell me that there is no other
I love you with my heart
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Only you can take my heart
Only you can tear it apart
When you hold me in your loving arms
I can feel you giving all your charms
Hold me, darling, ho-ho hold me tight
Squeeze me baby with-a all your might
Oh, please stay with me, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Put your head on my shoulder (1959)
What can I say ? This certainly is way too mushy !
But it really work wonders for those who try it. Good luck !
MTV
Perform Live by a older Paul Anka in a duet
Put your head on my shoulder by Paul Anka
Put your head on my shoulder
Hold me in your arms
Baby
Squeeze me oh so tight
Show me
Show me that you love me too
People say that love is a game
A game you just can’t win
If there is a way, I’ll find it someday
And then this fool will rush in
Put your head on my shoulder
Whisper in my ear
Baby
Words I want to hear
Tell me
You and I will fall in love
Video last only 48sec sang by older Paul.
Puppy Love
And they called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they’ll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so
And they called it puppy love
Just because we’re in our teens
Tell them all it isn’t fair
To take away my only dream
I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I’ll hope and I’ll pray that maybe someday
You’ll be back in my arms once again
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love
A very young handsome Paul Anka performed live with assortment of his favourite songs
Marriage (Phase 2) ![]()
Once married, the couple should stay together bound by oath
.
It suddenly get very lonely and fearful when one day, one found the other partner no longer around to share the same bed
. Hence one should get familiar with the following song if that ever happen… The title says it all.
I Don’t Like To Sleep Alone (1975)
No one likes to sleep alone, neither does Geeky but at least he has his faithful
to keep him company every night
.
Couldn’t find any video which show Paul Anka’s face. Still his voice will be good enough.
I don’t like to sleep alone by Paul Anka
I don’t like to sleep alone
Stay with me, don’t go
Talk with me for just a while
So much of you to get to know
Reaching out touching you
Leaving all the worries far behind
Loving you the way I do
My mouth on yours and yours on mine
Marry me, let me live with you
Nothing’s wrong and love is right
Like a man said in his song
“Help me make it through the night”
Loneliness can get you down
When you get to thinkin’ no one cares
Lean on me
(And I’ll lean on you)
Together we will see it through
No, I don’t like to sleep alone
It’s sad to think some folks do
No, I don’t like to sleep alone
No one does
Do you
(I don’t like to sleep alone)
No one does
Do you
Bonus
Paul Anka still achieve standing ovation and win admirers effortlessly these day. Just watch Paul perform live in Canadian Idol and see how his charisma permeate the whole environment. Response is just electrifying ! He is indeed timeless !
