Deezer’s embedded single audio player don’t work, but its playlist widget do !

Been a curious geek , I am just as enthusiatic to test the the embedded player feature because it does really make a site deezer, and not to say it also make great mashup using audio instead of the usual video and social network widget. Moreover, if possible, I try to recommend others to use the very thing I myself have personally experienced. If the thing really suck, at least I get to try it and see it for myself.

And so here I am just create a simple test html page onto the wonderful freehost of www.byethost13.com, so I could test this feature and verify the result myself. I expect nothing more than my favourite song start playing. So what I do is just simply copy the ‘embedding’ code from its ‘Blog’ dialog and paste into html page and ftp it into the server, and shown the page.

What I experience isn’t very encouraging . Instead of playing the song, what I see is the following message from the player.    

After searching the internet for any site that use Deezer so that I can see how others make it work, what I find is spocking. There’s hardly any site using Deezer, and I wonder why . I finally found the answer from the Deezer’s own forum:

Single small player doesn’t work for me   and  Blog embed problem

Yes, the answer concluded that the single audio player is not workable, and this is reaffirmed when no Deezer’s personal reply the forum on this issue.

 

 Embedded Playlist Widget really work !

Next, I try on the playlist widget by copying embedding code, and this time, the code work superbly. The playlist did appear this time showing all the correct songs. I test it on Opera 9.2, Firefox 2.0, and IE7 and all work fine, nice and sweet

  

However, thinking that if the player’s height can be adjusted to look like single player, I tried to fiddle with the object/flash tag’s height attribute, what I found is that the whole player become smaller.

So really, it’s best to leave the original height  as it is.

Conclusion

So it seems that we are now stuck at using playlist widget until Deezer fix the problem but it’s still better than nothing .

For those who want to make the Playlist widget work in WordPress, they cannot directly embed the code due to WordPress’s idiosyncrasy, instead they have to resort to using plug-in from Deezer player for WordPress 2.x (I’m yet to try this out).
So if you manage to make it work, congratulation and happy dezeering !
