Eyes On Me from Final Fantasy 8 (1999)
Faye Wong is the popular chinese singer behind this song whose unique voice set the tone by bringing life and heartfelt emotion to the characters in the game.
The Final Fantasy 8 tell the journey of a elite squads that set out to destroy the evil sorceress. 
Along the way, love blossom between the characters only to be obstructed by unexpected circumstances.
The main song for the game achieved a massive success that make the game even more popular than the rest of the series. Another main reasons for the game success is that the appearance of the characters are designed to be mysterious and good-looking rather than cute with personality.

“Eyes On Me” is the ballad that serves as the theme of the game Final Fantasy VIII. It was performed by Chinese singer Faye Wong and composed, like the rest of the game music, by Nobuo Uematsu. “Eyes On Me” was the first song in video game history to win an award at the 14th Annual Japan Gold Disc Awards, where it won “Song of the Year (Western Music)” in 1999.

Emiko Shiratori is a highly accomplished singer who has sung in apporo Winter Olympics (1972) and the Nagano Winter Olympics (1998). Her clear, gentle voice bring this song a joyful and pleasant ambience.
The game background is quite similar to Final Fantasy 8. Set in a fantasy world of Gaia, Final Fantasy IX’s plot centers on a war between several nations, sparked by an ambitious queen. Players follow a young thief named Zidane Tribal, who joins with several others to defeat the Queen [Wikipedia].
