Indeed, how can that ever be possible since
only allows officially approved widgets (Youtube, Google Video etc) to be embedded directly due to security reasons. All other widgets are out of luck and must be added through plug-in allowable only in paid WordPress hosted site.
But really, how cool to find out a service (Thanx to WordPress.com forum) that breaks the spell and makes the impossible possible ? Precisely with
, any embeddable flash widget can now appear in WordPress.com as law-abided citizen.
Just take the following widgets that use to appear on paid WordPress hosting service. Not anymore as evident from this post which hosts on WordPress.com
Somehow Vodpod ‘magically’ translates the widget embedded code into Vodpod’s shortcode that works perfectly in WordPress.com.
Yes, you can do it too.

Dear GeekyCoder;
I have tried everything my friend with the Vodpod plugin. It keeps appearing on the left side of the page over the text. The sidebar as you can see from the url is on the right side.
Honest, I followed the instructions several times
It has been quite awhile since I used WordPress but the other addons are working.
Have you got a solution for an old timer that started doing all this computer stuff with Fortran…… oops dated myself
Cheers
Dennis,
I could not figure out from your site. Is there a concrete example ? I doubt my method work in sidebar. It works well in blog entry though. In fact, I suggest you avoid putting flash-based widget in sidebar because it takes time to initialize the widget and it will slow down page loading if bandwidth is not readily available.

Hey Geeky Coder, I was so happy to finally find out someone who know a way to go around this problem, but unfortunatelly, it seems not to be working in my posts.
I tried flickr slider, google maps, and issuu catalogue, and they don ‘t work.
Issuu appears perfectly inside Vodpod, while in my WordPress post, it just appears as a blank space.
On the other hand, for google maps and flickr slidr Vodpod gives it’s own message that it does not support that kind of embeds.
I gues this does not solve all of our embedding problems after all…
Here’s a link for my post with an empty space instead of an embed:
http://nelalazarevic.wordpress.com/2009/02/04/let-s-see-if-this-works/
and the site i was talking about is: http://issuu.com, and http://flickrslidr.com/
Hope you can help….

[...] Aside from the 1gb storage limitation, I highly recommend using Google SlideShow widget (check out http://geekycoder.wordpress.com/2008/02/22/comiqs-testing123/) as it simply works without fuss. Sweetening the (free) deal is the seamless integration of [...]
Hello,
Thanks for sharing this with other people.
I have picasa and imeem, I tried to embed the code into my blog http://www.crystalsignature.com, it just can’t go through. Every time I pasted it in the code, it seems would be automatically stripped by wordpress.com
Is your site a regular wordpress.com blog? or just re-directed to a self hosted blog (maybe wordpress.org?)
Thanks lots.
crystalsignature,
mine is the regular wordpress blog. The suffix .wordpress.com indicates blog hosted by WordPress.com.
Did you follow the steps in
http://geekycoder.wordpress.com/2009/03/06/vodpod-no-longer-require-posting-to-site-to-obtain-the-embed-code/ ?
Please do embed the code at content mode not at html mode.
I am using Windows LiveWriter.
Hi!
Thank you for your useful information
I tried to embed imeem into my blog, and i succeed
But lately i noticed that I couldn’t play a full song,
It’s only 30secs duration
Is there something wrong with this?
Thanks
lindawatirahaju,
that issue is entirely due to Imeem, not Vodpod and WordPress. What happens is that Imeem detect some songs that it deem infringe copyright or that song only allow preview (30sec so to encourage purchase).
Even if i can listen the full song on Imeem, it’s not a guarantee that i can listen exactly the same on my blog,is it?
At first i thought i could listen to the full song,
but today i found that it’s only a preview.
Your Imeem playlist on this post, all of the songs are only 30secs too. Are they supposed to be like that?
Thanks…
