Fireworks show is a standard and most expensive way to celebrate the start of a new year. Those gorgeous sight of colourful fireworks with different pattern and position is just simply amazing and beautiful. I have consolidated some of the best fireworks video from various countries celebrating new year. More will be forthcoming as soon as it available from YouTube.
Video of Fireworks from countries:
Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, China
Australia, USA, London, New Zealand
Please proceed to Step 2 if you expecting 2008 will be a wonderful year for the typical Singaporean. Otherwise, what you read in step 1 may spoil your appetite. Don’t say I didn’t warn you .
Step 1: Amazing fireworks but …
Singapore loves to be first in everything, therefore I unhesitatingly place it in first top position (Call it patriotic if you must) of the post. But there is another reason why I do it. Before you view other countries’s fireworks, I suggest you view our own first to show support, moral or not.
Yeah, yeah, I’m whining in the early morning of first day of the year but then it is getting very boring as every year show the same theme. Can’t they be lot more creative and do different theme ? I know it’s hard to be creative but isn’t money supposed to solve everything in Singapore or do we need to pay more millions to come out creative ideas or is there simply a budget constraint for fear of crude mentality ? Still, like most local will tell you, it’s still better than nothing.
I do have some interesting suggestions and they come free of charge. Consider it as Creative Common ideas if you want. Okay now, how about fireworks firing off from pockets of the world’s most expensive ministers while they are hiphoping ? That will be wonderful ! I’m sure everybody is dying to see that ! And how about fireworks that show dollar sign up, up in the sky ? How about fireworks that explode into message that says “More Good Years !” and that will definitely brighten everyone’s face (though it may be more applicable to a few than majority). So not only those suggestions mentioned are original, but if they are executed, it will help bring the tiny red dot into the world map again of being the first to present such a creative, daring and provocative act, and who will then dare to say Singapore government is boring and dull.
Moreover, Singaporean ought to be creative and innovative as demonstrated by Singapore MDA’s video.
we don’t stop Get creative can do, rock on Yes, yes, y’all we don’t stop
Warning: Some may like it and some may hate it but this is the video of the year 2007 for Singapore and make us proud , be it good or bad. My apology if you lose your appetite after watching it. You can thank me too if it help in your digestive system or help wake you up from your nightmare .
In addition, I’m sure typical Singaporean will be able to contribute much more ideas than a Java programmer. You don’t need millions to generate ideas. What you need is
a dose of incompetent government and some vivid imagination. If that is still not enough to fire up your imagination, perhaps what you need is another dose of mindless price hike then .
There is no free lunch in Singapore we are told, and hopefully the firework expenditure won’t trigger another round of price hike to help the poor again.
Not long ago, some senior old folk that came out of nowhere predicted the ‘golden era’. Of course, I ‘believe’ him and so did majority of typical Singapore residents, local and foreigner alike, after all, who are we to question him anyway ?
Still many will find it easier to strike
ToTo than to place their bet on the ‘golden lottery’ which has evaded many from time to time.
But still, sometimes to make your life feel better and less miserable, it will be good to harbour the blind faith that the day of the coveted golden and are reckoning just as those filthy rich executives from NKF had done in the past. It is still better than becoming a hopeless digit.
And More Good Years, we are told, starting from 2008 or whatever year you want to substitute because it makes no difference. Only money can heighten the leaders’ promises and moral authority. Even then broken promises are the norm rather than the exception.
As usual, reasons for broken promises are always attributed to globalisation, terrorism, international competition, global warming, natural disaster, recession, USA, population aging, economic downturn etc, and maybe due to Geeky too, for being a whiner. As long as they are safe to escape responsibility and accountability, and still reward with ever-increasing million-dollars paycheck, secretive perks and benefits, it doesn’t really matter whoever they want to blame. Blame it on my dog too because it doesn’t know how to appreciate our newspaper.
Hmmm, while the commoners are facing these threats, those ‘extraordinary humans’ are not only immune but yet becoming even more prosperous ! Someone ought to do some PHD studies on this extraordinary phenomenon in this so-called virtually corrupted-free governance.
The world will be a better place if someday adverse practices are becoming legalised and legitimatised. If it takes $10,000 for someone to become morally corrupted, why not pay him a million dollars instead so that he will become 100 times less corruptible. What’s a ingenious idea except that one wonder why it doesn’t happen in private sector ? Perhaps another area worth academic study again.
Still, I wholeheartedly believe that More Good Years are ahead for me but not before successfully apply for some government’s post .
And yet I don’t know whether to laugh or cry where the expensive leaders are behaving more like comedian than politician in each passing day. Whatever it is, those politician’s jokes surely brighten my day. One good joke is “Increase GST to help the poor“ . Now I know who the poor people really is . Another joke is “Increase ERP cost to increase car ownerships“ . And I thought such things could only be found in Joke Book . I’m sure I can deliver better joke such as “Cut minister’s pay to help the poor” at no cost to the public but then guess who’s the one laughing the loudest.
But clown , jokeror whoever, promises us more Good Years ahead better deliver something credible for for people to believe in from now on. Patience is running out .
Just like this patriotic Singaporean, Lucky Tan and this Singapura kitten, Molly , I’m glad that there exists such a caring government to take care of us. The ministers seem like the best present Santa Claus deliver to Singapore every year except that the pleasant is choicelessly paying for it exorbitantly. Indeed, the future seems bright and promising.
So much for the
cynical remarks and hope that so far this is constructive enough to make Singapore a more vibrant and unique city .
Congratulation to you ! And if you yet to throw up by now , you really deserve to proceed to Step2 to enjoy the marvelous fireworks whoever it is from .
Step 2: Enjoy the fireworks !
