If you don’t want to waste time listening to grandmother’s story just click the following and off you go .
Or otherwise, be entertained
5…4…3…2…1…0. Time up ! congratulation if you choose settings choice just as majority of users will logically expect the browser support to appear. But then, sorry to say, you get the wrong answer as there is no browser integration information to be found from the selected choice. Here’s the Settings page
Forget about trying again because it will make you lose your sanity. Why ? Strangely the answer is found in the Post choice !
Really, someone has to explain how posting a url is related to adding browser integration support ? (Browser Buttons).
In fact, if this feature appears in Post page as a form of convenience, it should be welcoming. But the fact that this is one of the two places where you could add that support is baffling. It should at least appear on the Settings page too because logically the task we are doing is actually setting a feature to a browser, at least that’s what our mind tends to think.
Wait a minute, so where is the other place ? The other place to access is through Help choice. Wow, I should have think of that. Always ask for Help when get struck, always remember this !
Anyway, this is what you get if you click on the right place.
Amazingly someone actually makes a 3mins video on it .
but then should this be happened if this feature is intuitively located at the right place ? Setting it up is easy, locating it is not .
Good UI design should reduce user’s cognitive search to perform a task. In this case, the placement of Browser Integration Support feature has deviated from normal user’s perception and therefore incurred wasteful search time. Some frustrated users will have given up and resorted to unproductive way of adding link instead or even worse, switch to other competitors since there are now myriad of social bookmarking services available.
To conclude, the solution is to place this feature where most users expect it to be found. That is in Settings page, other locations are just secondary.
